چکیده

Fig. 1. The exoskeleton for knee support. trol system for a powered orthosis is presented. The orthosis (as shown in Fig. 1) is used to support the thigh muscles during flexion and extension of the knee while performing common motions like getting up from a chair, walking, or climbing stairs. The user interface of the control system is implemented by evaluating EMG signals from significant thigh muscles to find out the intended motion of the subject. The intended motion is executed with a linear actuator to support the subject’s own muscle force. Results from two experiments are presented. During the trials the torque support from the actuator illustrates the performance of the system.

Research on Exoskeletons at the TU Berlin

We present an overview of the work devoted to exoskeletons which has been performed for the last seven years at TU Berlin. Three different types of exoskeleton devices have been developed: hand and finger exoskeletons for rehabilitation, a leg exoskeleton for motion support, and an arm exoskeleton for multimodal human-computer interaction. The research has been focused on different types of con...

Design of an Active 1-DOF Lower-Limb Exoskeleton with Inertia Compensation

Limited research has been done on exoskeletons to enable faster movements of the lower extremities. An exoskeleton’s mechanism can actually hinder agility by adding weight, inertia and friction to the legs; compensating inertia through control is particularly difficult due to instability issues. The added inertia will reduce the natural frequency of the legs, probably leading to lower step freq...

Mechanical Analysis of Wearable Lower Limb Exoskeleton for Rehabilitation

This paper presents the mechanical analysis of a lower limb exoskeleton for rehabilitation for both legs that was developed in University Putra Malaysia (UPM). The main objective of the project is to develop a wearable exoskeleton system based on the average height of Malaysian to enhance the wearability of the system to lower limbs. An anthropomorphic design was adopted in the prototype with p...

A Gravity Balancing Passive Exoskeleton for the Human Leg

A gravity balancing lower extremity exoskeleton is a simple mechanical device composed of rigid links, joints and springs, which is adjustable to the geometry and inertia of the leg of a human subject wearing it. This passive exoskeleton does not use any motors or controllers, yet can still unload the human leg joints of the gravity load over the full range of motion of the leg. The underlying ...

A Survey in the Different Designs and Control Systems of Powered-exoskeleton for Lower Extremities

In this paper, previous studies in powered exoskeleton and their contributions in the field of robotics technology are presented, together with their corresponding control system. Specific problems and issues that were encountered and the solutions made to resolve the problems will be discussed. Gait cycle analysis and human body dynamic model will also be covered in the study to understand the...
